Contrary to the findings of some others, little evidence has been obtained during these
investigations that oral contraceptives have a deleterious effect on folate metabolism;
however, further studies are indicated. On the basis of the studies reported now, as well as
previous ones, intensive public health measures focused on eradicating all suspicions of
